Why Does My iPhone Say “Liquid Detected”?
If your iPhone says “Liquid Detected” when you try to charge it, your phone has detected moisture or liquid inside the charging port. This warning is designed to help prevent damage to your iPhone and charging accessories.
One of the most common causes of the “Liquid Detected” warning is water or moisture inside the charging port. Even small amounts of water, humidity, sweat, or condensation can trigger the warning and temporarily stop your phone from charging.
Dust and debris inside the charging port can also sometimes cause charging issues or false warnings. If your iPhone has recently been exposed to water, steam, rain, or high humidity, moisture may still be trapped inside the port even if the outside of the phone appears dry.
In some cases, a damaged charging port may also trigger the warning repeatedly, even when no liquid is present. Corrosion or internal charging port damage can interfere with proper charging and communication with the charger.
Solutions:
If your iPhone shows the “Liquid Detected” warning, disconnect the charger immediately and allow the phone to dry completely before charging again.
You can gently tap the phone against your hand with the charging port facing downward to help remove trapped moisture. Letting the phone sit in a dry area with airflow may also help speed up the drying process.
Do not use heat sources such as hair dryers, ovens, or microwaves to dry your iPhone, as excessive heat can damage internal components.
If the warning continues even after the phone is completely dry, your charging port may be damaged and could require replacement.
